Renban Sudoku rules

Fill every blank while keeping row, column, box and pink-line rules.

Match the board size

A 4 × 4 board uses digits 1–4 and four 2 × 2 boxes. A 6 × 6 board uses digits 1–6 and six 2 × 3 boxes. Each row, column and box contains every digit exactly once. Given digits cannot change.

Consecutive sets, any order

Every pink line contains different digits that form a consecutive set. A three-cell line could hold 1, 2, 3 or 2, 3, 4, but cannot skip a number or repeat a digit.

3, 1, 2 fits

Three cells on one pink line show 3, 1, 2

The set is 1, 2, 3. It is consecutive even though the digits appear as 3, 1, 2 along the line. A line is not an increasing path.

Enter and correct a digit

Tap a cell, then choose a digit below the board. Arrow keys move; number keys enter; Backspace, Delete or 0 clears an editable cell. A given stays fixed. Undo removes one entered digit. Restart clears this board after confirmation.

Use one hint

Hint explains one forced digit. Apply this step places that digit. If your entries conflict with the rules or leave no solution, correct them before continuing with hints.

Practice and daily puzzles

Eight original practice boards move from 4 × 4 to 6 × 6. Four different original daily boards are selected by the UTC date. All twelve boards have exactly one solution; removing their pink lines leaves more than one Sudoku solution. A puzzle is complete only when every cell and every line fits.

The consecutive-set rule was checked against Variant Sudoku 101: Renban Lines on Logic Masters. Ribbonvale uses its own small-board puzzles, line layouts and illustrations.
